Spiritual Retreats

"Tools" for the Spiritual Journey:
Six Spiritual Retreats for the Year 2001

With the help of our retreat model, you can choose how to journey into some silent time and then back into the human circle of life, refreshed and ready to love and serve.

For individuals who would like:

  • to retreat with an open, diverse, group of people
  • an opportunity for personal reflection and silence
  • an opportunity for relaxation and refreshment
  • an option to practice spiritual disciplines in a co-learning environment
  • an option to share in a small group setting

The schedule is entirely optional depending on one's own spiritual needs. The outside grounds at Northern Hills Fellowship include a labyrinth, nature trails, and meditative garden. Inside, the main gathering rooms and restrooms are wheelchair accessible. The remaining rooms require the use of a few stairs.

We are located in the Northern Hills/Finneytown area of Cincinnati on Fleming Road between Winton Road and Springfield Pike.

A Definition of Spirituality
"An awareness of the potential presence of the holy, creative spirit in all people—a spirit that manifests itself in freedom, and in acts of justice, compassion and love; a willingness to be transformed or inspired by a mystical experience, a discovery, an experience of beauty, awe or love, or in the inspiring words or actions of another person..." Charles Howe

For some people, this definition of Howe's may include a theological belief in a God and or Goddess. For some, it may include more of an intuitive mystical feeling of a Sacred Presence. Perhaps others may identify with the acts and/or words of justice, compassion and love. Others may embrace all of these beliefs and more.

Schedule of Each Retreat

11:00 Quiet time for personal reflection and meditation (For those who have not experienced extended silence, there will be an introduction to the use of this time.)
12:00 Small group sharing (optional)
12:30 Closing
1:00 Departure

* In our hectic lives, we often don't create the time in our schedule to be still, reflect, and meditate. If we do, we may not know what to do with this silent time. Spiritual practices are "little some things to do" during the silence.

For More Information
Retreats are offered several times during the year based upon a variety of themes (see the schedule of Dates and Topics for 2001). Questions about the retreats can be directed to the Facilitator, Linda Neumaier, at her home office (513) 771-0915 or lneumaier@uunhf.org.
Or if you would like to register for one or more of the retreats online, you may use the Registration Form to send an application directly to Linda.
