Nursery (Newborn to Age 3):
Our paid caregiver, assisted by volunteers, provides a warm environment for our youngest members and friends in our beautiful nursery. The age mix and interests of the children guide the choices of activities on any given day.
Pre-K to Kindergarten: “Story Time”
Using contemporary children’s literature, this program will help preschoolers focus on feelings, relationships, nature and holidays. Each session has a story, a discussion based on UU principles, and a choice of related activities.
Grades 1, 2 & 3: “Free to Believe”
The first sessions focus on Unitarian Universalist principles, values and beliefs through hands on activities, stories, games, songs and discussions. Children address the conflicts they often face, and create an accepting classroom community. Later sessions focus on life’s big questions (about God, death, the creation of life) through the lens of UU sources.

Grades 4, 5 & 6: “You the Creator”
This is a program of creative empowerment. Participants use creative activities to express themselves and their beliefs. Each session begins and ends with opening and closing rituals.
Grades 7, 8 & 9: “Neighboring Faiths”
This class focuses on the major people and events of the Hebrew Scriptures by portraying responsible, positive and noble ways of life. It looks at how we view ourselves, others, and all of creation, and it provides a Unitarian Universalist and humanist perspective on a cornerstone of Western religion- Judaism.
High School Youth Group
The NHF Youth Group is composed of youth in the high school age group, who have completed the “Coming of Age” program. The group is self-directed with varied interests and is guided by adult facilitators. The group’s purpose is to share experiences and ideas, explore issues with one another, and contribute to our community.
