Welcome a “Guest At Your Table”: For six decades, the Unitarian Univeralist Service Committee has promoted and protected human rights. Your involvement in the UUSC’s “Guest At Your Table” program shares our UU principles and helps to challenge injustice throughout the world. On Sunday November 23, our children will be a part of this program by distributing “Guest at Your Table” boxes during the service and asking for contributions. Appreciative Inquiry Workshop: The Committee on Ministry and the Board of Trustees are planning for the congregation the engage each other in a visioning process called “Appreciative Inquiry” in which we will define what we want to see in the Beloved Community that is Northern Hills Fellowship. Rev. Linda Eppert of the Heartland District staff will conduct a workshop on Appreciative Inquiry here at NHF on Saturday December 6 from 8:30am to 1:30pm. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Trustees, church leaders and anyone interested can attend. Please RSVP by contacting Bruce Beisner at info@uunhf.org Annual Spiess Holiday Party: All members and friends of Northern Hills Fellowship are invited to a party to kick off the holiday season hosted by Marti and John Spiess at their home. Join us on Saturday December 6 at 7:30pm. Please bring a small snack to share. For more infornation, contact the NHF office at info@uunhf.org Circle Art Project Chalice Dedication: On Saturday November 8, the metal portion of our large Flaming Chalice sculpture was erected in the circular opening over the front door to the Fellowship. (See photos below!) The glass panels which will go behind the chalice sculpture are expected to be installed in the next two weeks. Please plan to stay for a short ceremony after church on Sunday December 14 when we will dedicate this exciting addition to our building and celebrate the frutitioin of a long awaited project.
Challenging Performances Concert on December 7: Spanish soprano Sonia Rodriguez and her accompanist Moises Ruiz de Gauna will be the featured artists at the next concert in our series. The performance will be on Sunday December 7 beginning at 3:00pm at NHF. Tickets at the door are $10, and interested children and music students with ID, are admitted free. We would especially encourage young singers to hear Ms Rodriguez. (Young pianists will also enjoy seeing and hearing Mr. Ruiz de Gauna.) As usual, the concert will be followed by a wine and goodies reception provided by the CP Reception Committee, and friends. Here is an excellent chance to meet and talk with active performing artists - maybe pick up a few hints about how careers in music are developed. Save Tuesday evening December 9 for a festive, sit-down-and-be-served dinner starting at 6:30pm in the Quimby Room. Please call Evelyn Chidester to RSVP. Valley Interfaith Christmas Program: NHF is assisting Valley Interfaith to provide food, clothing and gifts to families in need this year. You can help by donating money for gifts (see the donation jar in the Quimby Room). NHF is committed to providing 12 children’s gifts at $25 each. For more information on volunteer opportunities at Valley Interfaith, please speak with Ellen Shores. Photography Show by Paul Miles: Paul Miles, a member of NHF and a singer in our choir, is also a talented nature photographer. You may have seen the photos he’s donated to our annual auction. Paul periodically shows his photography at NHF and donates a percentage of his sales to the fellowship. Mark your calendars for Sunday December 14, when Paul will have a photography show in the Quimby Room after our worship service. It’ll be a great time to purchase special gifts for family and friends.
The NHF Annual Congregation Meeting will be held on Sunday December 7, 2008 after the morning service. All members of the Fellowship are asked to attend.
